Very much just another blog

There’s nothing more disappointing than biting into a piece of fruit that is not quite ripe and lacks the taste its bright skin promises. I roll a piece in my hand, then break the skin with my teeth expecting the sharp emptiness of too hard flesh, but the juice runs down my fingers and inside is sweet and ruby-red. I eat it quickly and alone over the counter at work. I lick my fingers and hand down past my wrist where the juice has run in tiny rivers that stain my skin.
